The Green Mountain Academy is Vermont Wing’s summer leadership program for Civil Air Patrol Members. Our program is an 8-day event every June where members can focus on building leadership skills and aerospace education in a structured environment. Our cadet-focused program is intended to allow cadets to learn to lead in an environment where it is safe to fail. The hallmark of our program is that it is entirely cadet led and closely supervised by a team of specially trained adults. Our adult-focused program is intended to allow adult volunteers the opportunity to learn in a completely hands-on environment. The Academy is held at Camp Ta-Kum-Ta and is fully accessible to all individuals. Annually, the Academy works to further all aspects of aviation careers and serving local communities. We also work in partnership with the Vermont National Guard.
The Academy consists of 2 separate programs: a Basic Encampment and an Advanced Training Squadron. Please click below for more information on each program.
If you're flying in, please choose Burlington International Airport (BTV). Please book a flight that arrives between 11am and 2pm and email your Itinerary to Cadet Programs so we can coordinate transportation.
