Attending a basic encampment is one of the most important things a Civil Air Patrol (CAP) cadet can do. Encampments are designed to challenge you both physically and mentally. It offers the opportunity for you to develop basic leadership skills, learn about aviation and space opportunities, live CAP’s core values, and expose you to what a military environment is like. It is also a requirement for every cadet to complete an encampment prior to the Billy Mitchell Achievement. This event meets the requirements set forth by National Headquarters to count as an encampment.
The Vermont Wing believes that the best way to learn how to lead is to actually lead. All of your leadership will be other cadets, under the close supervision of specially trained senior members. You will follow a carefully designed training schedule that exposes you to a multitude of military and aerospace experiences. You will get up early. You will conduct physical training. You will be exposed to stressful situations. Most of all, you will meet a whole group of new friends. It’s not uncommon for cadets to maintain contact with their encampment family long after the event is over.
If you have specific questions please contact Cadet Programs directly (and please copy you squadron leadership to maintain proper cadet protection).
We encourage all cadets to complete a Cadet Encampment Assistance Program (CEAP) application. CEAP opens 1 March and closes 1 May. If you need more information on CEAP please click here:
You will receive an email notification once we’ve processed your registration. We have also established a Registration Paperwork Report for you to verify what paperwork we’ve received and what we’re still awaiting. Unfortunately, we cannot update it in real time, but we will have it updated every Friday evening.
Once you have completed registration please download and complete the following forms from the document library on the encampment homepage. Once they are complete, please email them to Cadet Programs
