Aerospace Education
Aerospace Education is defined as that branch of general education concerned with communicating knowledge, skills and attitudes about aerospace activities and the total impact of air and space vehicles upon our society. It all starts with our children, with our CAP units and with our schools. From the very beginning of their education, students need to be exposed to the wonders of aerospace. CAP programs help to spread aerospace knowledge throughout its membership and to our nation’s schools.
Today, promoting aerospace education for members and in America’s schools remains one of the primary missions of CAP. America’s aerospace industry is facing some tough challenges. Experienced aerospace industry workers are aging, averaging over 50 years of age. Meanwhile, the number of college graduates with science and engineering degrees going into aerospace careers is declining significantly. The talent base is dwindling. What can America do? To achieve its aerospace education mission, CAP has developed many programs. These programs can be divided into two major parts; Member and Outreach. Member programs as the title implies are those programs designed to help promote aerospace among CAP members, both cadets and seniors. Outreach programs are designed to promote aerospace to America’s schools (including K-12 and beyond), aerospace organizations and the general public.
We play an important part in this aerospace dilemma. We have the expertise and the products to make a huge difference for our organization and for our country.

Aviation and Space Education Outreach Program - Aviation Career Education "ACE" Camp Program
ACE Camps are one-week summer aviation education programs for middle and high school students which are co-sponsored by the FAA along with many other organizations. The focus is on aviation career clusters identified by FAA, with emphasis on opportunities for women and minorities. The plan is to have one program in each state and U.S. territory. This program reaches 1,500-2,000 students.
These one-week summer programs expose students to a wide range of aviation career exploration. Students experience instruction in aviation history, the physics of flight, field trips to aviation sites and hands-on activities. Dates, locations, cost and age requirements vary according to sponsoring organizations.
The following are a list of activities that we thought you might like to try. We hope you will enjoy the activities, brain burners, suggested aviation books and fun web links. But beware, you just may end up learning something new and fun when you’re finished.
